This event presents recent research with implications for library and information professionals. It features two presentations on new research from Australian researchers exploring: - Legal deposit libraries in an age of large digital platforms: the displacement of legal authority and the rise of platform governance - Dr Kieran Hegarty explores how commercial platforms are reshaping the work of legal deposit libraries in Australia. - Charting the future of library and information science in Australia and New Zealand through research, education and practice partnerships – Dr Edward Luca, Dr. Bhuva Narayan and Dr. Mary Anne Kennan explore the state of library and information science (Lis) in Australia and New Zealand, where there is a decreasing number of LIS programmes and concerns around the future of LIS education, research and practice. Presentations will be followed by Q&A.
