ASIS&T Central Ohio Chapter: Legal Resources and Research at the Ohio Supreme Court

Join CO-ASIST on a visit to the Ohio Supreme Court Law Library and Ohio Judicial Center - a unique opportunity to explore the state's highest judicial institution, its extensive legal resources, impressive architecture and courtroom. Library Director Erin Waltz will begin the program with an overview of the library's history, its role within the Ohio Supreme Court, and the importance of legal research. The library tour will focus on the law library's extensive collection of legal materials, unique features, modern research tools, and research assistance services. The Civic Education staff will then lead a tour of the historic courthouse and courtroom. The learning objectives are: 1. Historical Significance and Architecture: the history of Ohio's legal system and the grandeur of the interior and courtroom as testament to the state's commitment to justice. 2. Legal Resources and Research: the law library as a valuable resource for legal professionals and the public alike; how the Library supports the courts and the legal community. 3. Judicial Process: how the court operates, how cases are argued, and how decisions are made.
9:30-10:00 a.m.: hospitality and networking
10:00-11:30 a.m.: program and tour.
