Modeling Intangible Entities in the Cultural Domains for Digital Archiving (DCMI)

Wednesday, May 19, 2021 (5:00 PM - 6:00 PM) (EDT)

Description

There is a variety of new cultural domains for which we need to design metadata schemas. It is widely recognized that data models are crucial to design metadata schemas – we need to identify objects for which we create metadata. This webinar aims to present a set of generalized data models designed for metadata about resources in cultural domains such as intangible cultural heritage and popular culture. The presenter will first introduce the generalized data models and then discuss data models designed in the Media Arts Database project and related projects in which the they are involved. The webinar content will be organized based on the research and projects listed below in which the speaker is involved. - Shigeo Sugimoto, et al., “Metadata Models for Organizing Digital Archives on the Web: Metadata-Centric Projects at Tsukuba and Lessons Learned”, Proceedings of DC-2018, pp.95-105, https://dcpapers.dublincore.org/pubs/article/view/3968 - Senan Kiryakos.
